Women's Basketball Continues Road Swing at WKU

Panthers and Lady Toppers to tip off in E.A. Diddle Arena at 3 p.m. ET

GAME NOTES

MIAMI (Jan. 16, 2015)
– The women's basketball team (3-12, 0-4 C-USA) will play its second-straight road game on Saturday, Jan. 17, when it takes on the WKU Lady Toppers (15-2, 4-0) in E.A. Diddle Arena. Game time is set for 3 p.m. ET. 

THE BROADCAST
Saturday's game will televised nationally on Fox College Sports through the Hilltopper Sports Satellite Network with Jeff Younglove (play-by-play) and Paul Sanderford (analyst) on the call. It is also available via FCS Atlantic, DirecTV channel 608-1 and Dish channel 452. It is also available via the FoxSportsGo app to provider authenticated users. Audio will be live streamed on www.wkusports.tv with Barry Williams (play-by-play) and Laurie Idlett (analyst) on the call. SERIES HISTORY
FIU and WKU are meeting for the 34th time overall in the series that the Lady Toppers own a 24-9 advantage in. In the last meeting, FIU came away with a 72-53 victory in Miami on Feb. 16, 2013, while the Lady Toppers' last win against the Panthers came early in that 2012-13 season on Nov. 16, 2012 in Bowling Green, Ky., 62-56. 
 
SCOUTING FIU
FIU enters Saturday's game with a 3-12 overall record and an 0-4 mark against Conference USA opponents. The Panthers will look to improve on their offensive struggles over the past couple of games as they shot 38.2 percent from the floor and 13.3 percent from three-point range in the loss to Marshall Thursday night. Redshirt freshman Kiandre'a Pound continues to lead FIU in scoring with an average of 15.6 points-per-game, while senior Marita Davydova leads the Panthers in rebounds with 9.8 boards-per-game. The dynamic duo combined for 35-of-61 of FIU's points against Marshall and both notched a double-double.
 
SCOUTING WKU
WKU is off to one of its best starts in program history at 15-2 and comes into Saturday's game receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll. The Lady Toppers opened the week with a dominating 80-43 victory over Florida Atlantic on Thursday evening.  WKU ranks atop several of the C-USA statistical categories including scoring offensive (79.1 ppg), scoring margin (+17.0), assists (16.6 apg), steals (11.4 spg) and assist/turnover ratio (1.0). Seniors Chastity Gooch and Alexis Govan lead the Lady Toppers and ranks third in the conference in scoring with an average of 17.6 point-per-game. Gooch, a three-time C-USA Player of the Week, also hauls in a team-best 7.8 rebounds-per-contest.
 
LAST MEETING
FIU defeated WKU, 72-53, the last time the two teams met, which took place on Feb. 16, 2013 in Miami. The victory marked the fourth-straight for the Panthers as Jerica Coley scored 38 points and Marita Davydova registered her ninth double-double of the season. Coley led all scorers with her 38 points on 14-of-22 shooting from the field and a 9-of-11 performance from the free throw line. She came up one rebound shy of a double-double, contributing nine rebounds, five blocks, three steals and three assists in 38 minutes of action. Coley had then scored in double-figures in 24-consecutive games and in 82 of 92 career contests. The 30-point performance marked her 11th of the campaign, while the 20-point outing marks her 17th of the season. Davydova registered a double-double versus WKU, posting a career-high-tying 15 rebounds and 11 points as FIU out-rebounded WKU, 43-27, for the contest. Carmen Miloglav dished out a team-leading six assists, also tying for the team lead in steals with three swipes on the night.
