MIAMI (Jan. 31, 2015)
– The women's basketball team fell, 81-62, on Saturday evening from Lime Court at FIU Arena. With the loss, the Panthers dip to 3-16 overall and 0-8 against Conference USA opponents, while the win lifts the 49ers to 8-13 on the season and 4-5 in league play.

Davydova also had a game-best 13 rebounds, while senior Zsofia Labady dished out a team-high five assists. Charlotte had three players register double-digit scoring figures, led by senior Hillary Sigmon with 19 points.

It was a back-and-forth affair over the first six-and-a-half minutes as there were three ties and three lead changes. A 49er three sparked a 7-0 Charlotte run over the next three minutes that gave them an eight-point advantage. The Panthers hit four-consecutive free throws that pulled them back within three. However, 9-0 offensive attack gave Charlotte a 12-point lead with 7:41remaining in the first. After a four minute scoring drought, the Panther offense seemed to come alive after an 11-3 run that pulled them with in four with 3:06 left to play. Charlotte responded yet again with another 9-0 run to close the first.

The 49ers wasted no time picking up where it left off, going four-for-four from the field to open the second half to take a 19-point lead. Charlotte continued to build on its lead eventually going ahead by as many as 22 twice in the game. FIU pulled back within 12 with 3:34 remaining after an 8-0 run, but three-consecutive Panther turnovers that turned into seven Charlotte points. With a 19-point deficit and less than two minutes remaining, FIU could not recover and fell, 81-62.

For the game, Panthers shot 42.9 percent (21-of-49), while the 49ers were 53.0 percent (35-of-66) from the floor. FIU shot better from the free throw line as the Panthers hit 19-of-25 attempts (76.0 percent) compared to Charlotte's 7-for-11 (63.6 percent). FIU out-rebounded Charlotte 37-30 and had 12 second chance points, but the balanced 49er scoring attack received 26 bench points, compared to only five from the Panthers.

Next up, FIU will take to the road, heading to San Antonio to face UTSA on Thursday, Feb. 6. The Panthers and the Roadrunners will tip off at 8 p.m. ET.
