Box Score BIRMINGHAM (Oct. 10, 2015) – The FIU Men's Soccer team (7-4, 2-2 C-USA) fell to UAB (4-7, 1-2 C-USA) Saturday night at the West Campus field.
Junior
Luis Betancur scored the first goal of the game in the 16
th minute, registering his seventh goal of the season. Sophomore
Paul Marie placed a perfect ball from the near side for a wide open shot by Betancur. The Panthers led 1-0.
In the 31
st minute, Sophomore
Brad Fountain registered his third goal of the season as he advanced the lead, 2-0.
UAB got on the scoreboard in the 38
th minute with a goal by Ian Svantesson to place the game at 2-1.
Fountain found the back of the net at the end of the first half to total his season goals to four. The Panthers led, 3-1 at the conclusion of the first half.
UAB brought the heat in the second half with three goals scored to take the lead and end the game at 4-3.
The Panthers matched UAB in shots taken (14-14), but failed to find the back of the net in the second half.
Tonight's game marks the Panther's second-straight loss in Conference USA matches.
FIU returns to action as they host Old Dominion next Saturday, at 7 p.m.
