MIAMI (October 14, 2015) – FIU Volleyball (11-7, 5-2 in C-USA) will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face the Eagles of Southern Miss on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. The Panthers are coming off a conference victory against the Charlotte 49ers last Friday at home. With the victory, FIU moved up to fourth in C-USA standings.
Against Charlotte – Last Friday, against the 49ers, FIU got a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-15, 25-20) and improved to 4-0 versus conference opponents on Lime Court at FIU Arena. The Panthers were led by senior
Lucia Castro with 14 kills on the match. Freshman
Katie Friesen led in assists with 23 and senior
Adriana McLamb led in digs with 14. The team as a whole out-blocked Charlotte 10-6.
Scouting Southern Miss – The Eagles will enter Friday night's matchup with a record of 17-6 (4-2 in C-USA). Southern Miss is coming off a 3-1 loss to Western Kentucky, snapping a four-game winning streak. The Eagles, with a home record of 7-1, will be hosting FIU (road record of 2-2). Southern Miss is currently ranked sixth in C-USA standings.
FIU has not lost to a conference opponent with the new lineup of four middle hitters (3-0). They seek a road victory to continue the winning streak on Friday.
