MIAMI (October 23, 2015) – The FIU Volleyball team (12-8, 6-3 in C-USA) will travel to Boca Raton to take on the Owls of Florida Atlantic tonight. First serve is set for 7 p.m. The Panthers are coming off a 3-1 conference win versus LA Tech at Lime Court at FIU Arena last Wednesday night.
Against LA Tech – Last Wednesday, the Panthers got a 3-1 victory (25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22) against the Lady Techsters and improved to 5-0 at home versus conference opponents this season. FIU was led by sophomore
Jennifer Ene who posted a career-high 19 kills on the night. Ene also added seven blocks and a .441 hitting percentage. Freshman
Katie Friesen led the way in assists with 32, surpassing the 500-mark on the season (508). Friesen also led in digs with a career-high 19 on the night. With the victory, FIU moved up in conference rankings from seventh to fifth.
Scouting Florida Atlantic – The Owls will enter tonight's match-up with a record of 15-6 (7-2 in C-USA). FAU is coming off a 3-1 victory against Southern Miss, Wednesday night and a current win-streak of six games. The Owls, who are second in Conference USA standings, are a perfect 8-0 at home this season. The Panthers will enter the match with a 2-3 road record.
FIU currently has 191 blocks on the season and are on pace to set the most blocks as a team in the last five years (286.5). The Panthers look to stick to their strengths as they take on the formidable Owls tonight.
