@FIUWSoccer Host Rival Florida Atlantic, This Sunday For Senior Day

MIAMI (Oct. 23, 2015) – The FIU women's soccer team (8-9, 4-4 in C-USA) will host Florida Atlantic (11-7, 5-3 in C-USA) this Sunday, October 25, at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: Last weekend, the Panthers fell to conference foes, WKU and Marshall. Friday's match against the Hilltoppers held a nil score at the end of regulation, leaking into overtime. WKU found their footing with a flurry of shots until Caitlin Hesse finalized the game, 1-0, in the 109th minute. Sunday's match saw little action, with the scored tied, 0-0, at the end of the first half. The Thundering Herd's Kelly Culicerto, totaling five shots for the match, found the back of the net in the 60th minute with a shot from outside the 18-yard box to the top, right corner.

Scouting the Owls: FAU shut out UAB last night, 4-0, in their last home match of the season. Senior Claire Emslie notched the first goal of the match in the 59th minute. Two minutes later, junior Geovana Alves struck the second goal of the game and 36 seconds later, registered another goal for the match. Senior Taylor Townsend scored the final goal of the game in the 76th minute off a penalty kick to conclude the match, 4-0.   After Friday's game, FAU climbed the C-USA standings to hold the fourth seat.

The Panthers currently hold a four-game win streak at home.

Sunday's match will honor our four Panther seniors: Marie Egan, Scarlet Montoya, Madlen Weinhardt, and Nikki Rios. The four will be recognized after the game.
