MIAMI (Oct. 27, 2015) – The FIU Men's Soccer team (9-4, 3-2 in C-USA) take on South Carolina (7-4-2, 4-0-1 in C-USA) Tuesday night at the Eugene E. Stone III Stadium. The match is set for 7 p.m.
Last time out: The Panthers defeated the No. 22 FGCU, 2-1 in overtime. The weekday match-up began with a goal by the Eagles in the 33rd minute off a penalty kick. In the 59th minute of the second half, junior
Patrick Lopez matched FGCU with a goal. The assist was by junior
Ismael Longo who set up a wide open shot for Lopez. With the score knotted up, neither team could find the back of the net again in regulation time. In overtime, sophomore
Darren Rios scored the game-winner in the 95th minute. A cross from the right side by junior
Jamar Campion-Hinds placed the ball for Rios to score in the top, left shelf and finalize the score, 2-1.
Scouting the Gamecocks: South Carolina fell to Charlotte, 2-0, last Friday. The 49ers notched two goals in the first half to take the lead. USC failed to match Charlotte and was defeated, 2-0. A very physical match, the Gamecocks saw nine fouls and four cards.
