MIAMI (Sept. 12, 2015) – The FIU men's soccer team (4-2-0) rallied yet again to win its fourth-straight match of the season in 2-1 fashion over the Princeton Tigers on Saturday night. Sophomore
Luca Giovine scored his first career goal in an FIU uniform, while sophomore
Brad Fountain netted his second goal of the season.
Junior
Marvin Hezel got the first shot off of the game four minutes in that went wide, but the Tigers struck first. At the eight-minute mark, Princeton got on the board on a corner kick. The Tigers' Nico Hurtado played the ball into the box, where Thomas Sanner deflected it back into the net to make it 1-0.
The strong second halves for the Panthers' this season continued, as FIU rallied yet again, scoring two goals in the second stanza. Sophomore
Luca Giovine notched his first career goal in an FIU uniform in the 74
th minute to knot the match up at one. On a nice give-and-go setup, Fountain found Giovine open in the middle of the box, where he one timed it in for the goal.
The Panther-momentum continued just over three minutes later. This time, Fountain was on the actual scoring end, when he was found a wide open Panther in the box. Junior
Jamar Campion-Hinds notched another assist, his sixth of the season, to put FIU ahead for good, 2-1.
FIU will have six days off before opening Conference USA play on Sept. 18, traveling short-distance to Boca Raton to take on the Florida Atlantic Owls at 7 p.m.
