@FIUVolleyball Travels to Rice This Friday, WKU This Sunday

MIAMI (Sept. 24, 2015) – FIU Volleyball (8-4, 2-0 C-USA) kicks off the weekend with a pair of C-USA road matches, playing Rice this Friday, at 7 p.m., followed by a Sunday afternoon match at WKU, set for 1 p.m.

Against FAU – Last Sunday the Panthers defeated the Owls at home, 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-11, 25-18). Senior Lucia Castro led with a match-high 16 kills. Senior Gloria Levorin followed with a .611 attacking percentage with 11 kills and zero hitting errors. Freshman Katie Friesen tallied 37 assists and nine digs.

Scouting Rice – The Owls enter Friday's game with a 10-4 record, having lost last week against Baylor in the Baylor Classic Tournament.

Scouting WKU – The Hilltoppers, currently 12-2, visited Marshall last Wednesday and defeated the Thundering Herd (3-1), improving their road record to 5-0.

The Panthers, currently sit atop the C-USA standings and will look to continue their hot start as conference action goes full-swing.

Entering Friday's match, FIU is led by Castro with 145 kills, more than a quarter of the total kills for the team. She enters this weekend with a .245 hitting percentage, and has recorded 120 digs. Tied for total digs with Castro is senior Adriana McLamb who holds 120 digs total. Freshman Maria McLamb trails closely behind with 105 digs. Friesen leads the team with 345 assists and has registered 112 digs. Levorin leads the team in blocks, totaling 55, more than half of total team blocks.
