Road Trip Heads to MT for @FIUWSoccer

MIAMI (October 1, 2016) -- Coming off a scoreless draw Friday at UAB, the FIU women's soccer team plays the second of three-straight league road games Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern against Middle Tennessee.

The draw earned FIU its first point in the conference standings.

The Panthers sit at 1-7-2 on the season, 0-2-1 in Conference USA games. MT is 3-6-1 this season, with a 1-2 conference mark. The Blue Raiders suffered a 1-0 home loss Friday against Florida Atlantic.

The Panthers trail 6-10-1 in the all-time series with the Blue Raiders, with one win in the last 11 meetings. That win was a double overtime thriller in the Conference USA Tournament, 2-1 in November of 2012. Sunday's game will be the fifth time in a row in the regular season that the two teams have met in Murfreesboro.

Following the contest, the Panthers conclude the road swing with a Wednesday evening game at Louisiana Tech. Game time is set for 8 p.m. Eastern.

Sophomore Lyrik Fryer (on the team's defensive effort...)
"We have been using younger players on defense and it has taken time to gel and learn one another. We have learned about each other and learned what to do and where to go. Individually, we defend well, but we work well together as a team defensively. Also with Sophia (Trujilla) being here for a second year, she has been more vocal and helps us communicate with one another. We just have to stay connected to each other out there."
