FIU Track & Field Closes Out GVSU Big Meet-Friday with Six Top Three Finishes

Panthers now set their sights on Conference USA Championships, Feb. 18-19 in Birmingham

MIAMI (February 11, 2017) – The FIU men's and women's indoor track and field team turned in six top three finishes on Saturday in the Grand Valley State Big Meet-Saturday in Allendale, Michigan, at the Kelly Family Sports Center.
 
The men's team posted four top-three finishes on the afternoon. Sophomore Daniel Neptune ran the 60m in a time of 8.23, his second-fastest time of the season, while classmate Todd Jackson recorded a time of 22.12 in the 200m hurdles.
 
In the men's field events, Panthers' junior Christian Williams, fresh off a first-place finish in the high jump on Friday, took second in the long jump with a distance of 6.79m. Sophomore Wisdom Offor took second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.25m, and junior Andrew Samuels placed third in the high jump with a height of 2.0m, equaling his career-best.
 
Sophomore Sydnee Wilkerson paced the way on the women's side with a second-place finish in the 60m, posting a time of 7.73.
 
FIU will now set its sights on the Conference USA Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Birmingham CrossPlex, Feb. 18-19.
