DAYTONA BEACH -- Left-hander Donte Lindsay allowed two runs over 7 2/3 innings to lead Bethune-Cookman past FIU, 5-3, Wednesday evening at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach.
The win gave the Wildcats (26-21) a split of the two-game season series with the Panthers (26-21).
Danny Rodriguez hit a solo home run off FIU starter
Chris Mourelle (4-3) in the second inning to put B-CU ahead 1-0. The Wildcats added two more runs on a pair of doubles off
Cain Spangler in the third.
B-CU built a 5-1 lead into the eighth inning before FIU got late solo home runs by
Javier Valdes and
JC Escarra to narrow the deficit to two runs. The home run for Escarra was his 12
th of the season, which leads the team.
However, down 5-3 was as close as the Panthers came in their final non-conference game of the season.

FIU returns home Friday to open a three-game series with Louisiana Tech at the FIU ballpark. The Panthers (10-11 in Conference USA) trail the fifth place Bulldogs (11-10) by one game in the conference standings.
First pitch on Friday is at 7 p.m. There are no PantherVision or C-USA TV broadcasts for the first two games of the series. Sunday's series finale will be shown on PantherVision and C-USA TV.
