Two Road Games in Jacksonville Complete @FIUWSoccer Road Trip

MIAMI (August 31, 2017) -- FIU women's soccer heads to the north of the Sunshine State for a pair of games in Jacksonville this weekend to finish a four-game road swing. The Panthers will be at North Florida for a 5 p.m. match Friday and then play at Jacksonville University Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Panthers (0-3) have not yet scored a goal, but have only allowed four in their three games so far this season.

UNF is 3-1, winning three in a row. The Ospreys has posted six goals, allowing five, but notching a pair of 1-0 shutouts. JU is 1-2, scoring four goals and allowing five.

FIU has a 3-1-2 mark in the all-time series with UNF, beating the Ospreys 2-0 in the previous meeting, back in 2015. The Panthers have not been scored upon in the previous two contests with UNF.

FIU's series with JU has not been as positive, with a 1-5 marking against the Dolphins. The lone win in six contests was in 2012, a 2-1 home win. The two teams played into overtime in 2013, with the Dolphins coming away with a 2-1 win in their home turf in The River City.

FIU has produced more than half of its shots in the second halves of games this season, and early aggression has been something the team has focused on since returning from their two road games in the Northeast last weekend.

"We are still very focused on ourselves right now," said Head Coach Shay Nonen. "We are making improvements slowly and are still teaching them our offensive elements, so we are not ready to focus on matchups at this point of the season."

"I think we tend to start slow due to confidence and focus," said sophomore starter Isabella de Almagro, "I think once we start pushing forward and attacking, we tend to build off of that and get more comfortable."

The Panthers took their last contest into overtime, falling in the first extra period at Vermont in a 1-0 decision.

Following this weekend, FIU will return home next Thursday for a home contest versus Stetson, set for 7 p.m. at the FIU Soccer Stadium.
