IRVING, Texas (January 10, 2018) -- Ahead of Thursday's dual meet with Central Connecticut State, freshman diver
Rachel Foord (Melbourne, Australia) earned Conference USA Diver of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. This is the third such recognition for Foord and the sixth time in seven awards that an FIU diver has earned the honor.
                Â
Foord took first in the 3-meter diving event with an NCAA Zone-qualifying score of 281.95 at the FIU Sprint Invitational last Friday at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center. It was her fourth win in last five events and helped the Panthers finish first of 11 teams at the Invite. The 1-meter springboard event was cancelled due to weather at the outdoor venue. Foord was the only diver to post a score that met the NCAA Zone standard.
Â
Foord previously earned a Diver of the Week on November 1 and 8 of this season, with
Rebecca Quesnel winning in the opening week of the season, on October 11. Panther
Brooke Bouchard won on November 22 and
Brittany Haskell was named Diver of the Week on December 20.
Â
The Thursday meet versus CCSU starts at 4 p.m. from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center in North Miami.
