@FIUHoops Heads to the Lone Star State; Open Weekend Play at UTSA

Panthers look to end two-game skid when it faces the Roadrunners in San Antonio on Thursday.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (January 10, 2018) - The FIU men's basketball team heads out on the road for the first time during Conference USA play, beginning its two-game road trip at UTSA on Jan. 11. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET at the UTSA Convocation Center, with the game being broadcast on CUSA.tv with Andy Everett and Tim Carter calling the action. The Panthers look to snap their two-game losing streak, along with ending their two-game skid against the Roadrunners. FIU has dropped five of its last seven games. This weekend's road trip to the Lone Star State is the first of two over the next three weeks for the Panthers. FIU will play four of the next six games in Texas.

Trejon Jacob led FIU in scoring in FIU's 75-64 loss to UAB on Jan. 6. Brian Beard, Jr. added 16 points in the setback while Kasper Christiansen chipped in with a career-high 11 points.
 
Jacob leads five players in double figures in the scoring column for FIU, averaging 16.5 points per game, while Beard, Jr. (15.2 ppg) and Eric Lockett (13.9 ppg) are second and third. Willy Nunez, Jr. and Josh Stamps round out the double-digit scorers with a 12.7 and 12.0 point-per-game averages, respectively.

- UTSA comes into Thursday's game with a 9-8 record and a 2-2 record in Conference USA, following its 93-83 loss to Southern Miss on Jan. 6 in Hattiesburg ... The loss is the third in the last five games for the Roadrunners.
 
- Jhivvan Jackson leads three players in double figures in the scoring column, averaging 18.2 points-per-game ... Keaton Wallace and Nick Allen are also netting double-digits, averaging 13.1 and 10.1 points-per-outing, respectively ... Bryon Frohnen leads the team on the glass, grabbing 7.5 rebounds-per-contest.
 
THE SERIES AGAINST THE ROADRUNNERS

- Keith Frazier leads three players in double figures, averaging 14.5 points-per-game ... Omega Harris and Matt Willms are each netting 12.1 and 11.0 points-per-outing, respectively ... Frazier is also pacing the Miners on the boards, grabbing 6.2 rebounds-per-game.

- UTEP comes into Saturday's game with FIU, holding a commanding 9-1 series lead, dating back to the 1998-99 season ... The Panthers are 0-4 at home, 1-3 in El Paso, and 0-2 in neutral site games with those contests taking place in the Conference USA Tournament.
