MIAMI (Oct. 26, 2018) – Next up in our Q&A series with FIU student-athletes is women's soccer's
Emily Baragar. The senior talks about FIU, her sibling rivalries and Disney World.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Panther started in nine games for FIU before suffering an injury. Baragar took time out of her busy schedule to sit down for five questions with FIUSports.com.
Q: How would you describe FIU to someone who has never been here?
A: "FIU is one of the most beautiful schools I've ever been to. Palm trees are everywhere you walk and we have amazing warm weather everyday. The people are so diverse and truly make the college experience feel like a study abroad."
Q: What advice would Emily the senior give Emily the freshman?
A: "Enjoy every moment offered and make new friends wherever you are."
Q: How important are academics for you?
A: "Academics are one of my main priorities. Everything I do in my college career is a part of my plan in preparing for my future after college and soccer."
Q: How important were your siblings growing up to shaping you for your soccer career?
A: "They still are! I look up to all my siblings to this day. They are all so unique and successful in everything that they do and it really helped me growing up. My brother always played different sports and I wanted to play every single one, which made me a multi-sport athlete before college. My sister and I shared the same teams a few times, so I always played up to the same level of the older kids. They all helped me get to the collegiate level."
Q: What's your favorite ride or thing to do at Disney?
A: "Everything at Disney is so magical and fun! I love Magic Kingdom and Space Mountain is my favorite ride."
FIU hosts Florida Atlantic on Friday, Oct. 26 as the Panthers will conclude the 2018 season. The game against the Owls will serve as Senior Day.
