MIAMI (Nov. 9, 2018) – The FIU women's basketball team was upended by Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday night, as the Panthers dropped a 66-63 decision to the Sailfish at home.
With the loss, FIU drops to 0-2 on the year, while PBA improves to 1-0 on the young season.
The Panthers shot 36.5% from the floor, bettering the Sailfish's 35.1% from the field, but PBA sank four more 3-pointers which proved to be the difference on the night.
FIU was led by
Chelsea Guimaraes, who scored 22 points and came one rebound shy of her first double-double of the season. PBA had three players in double figures, with Jonika Garvin leading the way after posting 17 points.
FIU posted a 16-13 advantage after the first quarter and held a lead for over 26 minutes of the ball game on Friday night, but PBA outscored the Panthers each quarter to follow as the Sailfish climbed back into the game and eventually earned the 66-63 road victory.

FIU will be back home on Monday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. ET as the Panthers host Georgia State.
