The Basics
- Thanks in large part to a complete game shutout by Megan Kugelmann (Merritt Island, Fla./Cocoa Beach HS), FIU picked up a 2-0 win over Central Connecticut University during their first game of the FIU Classic. The Panthers improved their record to 6-6 on the season while Central Connecticut fell to 1-2.
- Jackie Schoff (Bradenton, Florida/Lakewood Ranch) blasted a double to left field during her first at bat in the bottom of the first inning. She would eventually score after Julia Gilbert (Rialto, Calif./Etiwanda) grounded out to third base bringing home Schoff.
- Schoff is currently on a tear offensively for the Panthers. She has now hit safely in 11-of-12 games this season. With two more hits against the Blue Devils, Schoff is now hitting .410 on the season.
- The one-two punch at the top of the lineup continues to produce for the Panthers as Tatyana Forbes (Redmond, Wash. / Redmond) pumped out two more hits.
- With the win, Kugelmann picked up her first win of the season and lowered her ERA to 4.57 in 23 innings of work this season.

The Basics
- In an old-fashioned pitchers duel, FIU and Boston College went toe-to-toe for 11 innings, with FIU pulling out the victory, 2-1. Michaela Mills was FIU's super hero on Friday night, with both of her hits coming at the most opportune times. Mills tied the game in the bottom of the ninth and won the game for the Panthers in the 11th.
- The game was a scoreless tie till the top of the ninth inning when BC drove in their lone run on a fielder's choice. FIU would answer right back in the bottom of the ninth when Michaela Mills was called to pinch-hit with runners on first and second, one out. Mills made contact to right field and watched the ball land just in front of the right fielder. Jessica Rivera scored the run for FIU. Mills was back at it again, this time in the 11th. With Rivera on second base, Mills hit the ball on the ground and was able to beat out the throw at first. At that same moment, Rivera had rounded third and scored despite a high throw from BC's first baseman.
- Shanon Saile (Land O' Lakes, Florida/Land O' Lakes) threw 11 stellar innings – a career high, while striking out 11 Eagle's hitters and allowing one run. Saile's ERA is now 1.17.
- Tatyana Forbes (Redmond, Washington/Redmond) recorded her fifth multi-hit game of the season.
