Jose Garcia powered FIU with a pair of home runs and a combined nine RBI on Sunday afternoon as the Panthers defeated Grambling 12-7 at the FIU ballpark.
FIU (3-3) took two of three games from Grambling (4-4) in the weekend set.
With FIU ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Hampton launched a two-run home run into the netting above the left field fence.
It was Hampton's second home run of the series and capped off a scorching weekend at the plate for the junior. Hampton went 7 for 12 against Tiger pitching with two home runs and seven RBI.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Garcia flexed his muscle. Grambling reliever Ryan Evans hit three straight FIU batters with a pitch to load the bases. Garcia cleared the bases with a towering drive over the left field fence for a grand slam. FIU increased its lead to 10-3.
Garcia also had two home runs on the weekend against Grambling. The freshman was 4 for 8 in the series with the two round-trippers and six RBI.

Logan Allen (1-1) delivered a terrific Sunday performance. Allen pitched six innings, allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out seven to record his first collegiate win.

Austin Shenton and
Diandre Amion each went 3 for 4 for the Panthers.
FIU continues its stretch of eight games in 10 days on Tuesday when Florida A&M comes to town for a two-game midweek series. First pitch for game one on Tuesday is at 7 p.m. from the FIU ballpark.
