MIAMI (February 26, 2018) – The No. 11-ranked FIU beach volleyball team gets back on the court on Tuesday, Feb. 27, when it faces No. 17 Florida Atlantic (FAU) at the FIU Beach Courts. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. The meeting with the Owls begins Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) conference play for FIU. Tuesday's match is the first of two that the Panthers will play on campus this season, along with Florida Gulf Coast on March 21, at 4 p.m.
 
FIU (3-0) is coming off an undefeated season-opening weekend at the TCU Horned Frog Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. The Panthers defeated UL Monroe (4-1) in the first match of the two-day event on Saturday. On Sunday, FIU handed defeats to Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-0) and No. 13 TCU (4-1). The 3-0 weekend marks the first time in the program's short history that the Panthers swept the opening weekend to start 3-0.
 
FAU comes into the match with FIU with a 1-2 record following the Stetson Spring Fling last weekend in DeLand, Florida. The Owls dropped a 5-0 decision to Florida State and defeated Eckerd, 3-2, on Saturday. FAU closed out the weekend with a 3-2 loss on Sunday.
   
Up Next
Following Tuesday's dual match against FAU, FIU travels to Tallahassee, Florida, to take part in the Hampton Inn Capital-University Invitational, March 2-3. The Panthers begin play on March 2, against CCSA foe College of Charleston at 10:30 a.m. in their only match of the day. FIU will play two contests on March 3, against St. Petersburg College at 8:30 a.m. and then close out play for the weekend with No. 15 Stetson at 12:30 p.m.
