The Basics
- The FIU men's basketball team dropped a 76-66 decision to Marshall, snapping their modest two-game winning streak. The Panthers falls to 11-14 on the year and 5-7 in league play, while the Thundering Herd improves to 16-8 and 7-4 in C-USA.

- The Panthers shot just 36.8 percent (25-for-68) from the floor on the night, including 25.0 percent (4-for-16) from behind the three-point arc, and 46.2 percent (12-for-26) from the free-throw line, their third-worst percentage of the season from the line.

- Despite its shooting woes, FIU's defense kept it in the game and wreaked havoc for the Thundering Herd, forcing Marshall into 19 turnovers – while only committing six on the night. In addition, the Panthers found their transition game to be effective, outscoring Marshall 10-2 on fast-break points in the loss.

- FIU trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half, 29-18, with 6:11 left, however, used a 12-4 run over the rest of the first stanza to go into the locker room at the break down three, 33-30.

- FIU led just once in the game, after scoring on its first possession of the contest, and trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half. In the second half, the Panthers stayed within striking distance, and never really went away, getting as close as two points, 44-42, on a Jacob three with 12:23 left in the game FIU. The Panthers, however, were never a serious threat the rest of the night as Marshall got the lead back into double-digits.

- The Panthers placed four players in double-figures on the night, led by Trejon Jacob (Raleigh, North Carolina) with 16 points. Josh Stamps (Chicago, Illinois) tied his career-high with 15 points, and Eric Lockett (Earner Robins, Georgia) and Brian Beard, Jr. (Rancho Cucamonga, California) chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Jacob paced the team on the glass with eight rebounds.

Turning Point of the Game
After trailing by just three points at the intermission, and holding Marshall's leading scorer, Jon Elmore (22.0 ppg), to just five first-half points, Elmore came out in the second half and poured in 17 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field, and 5-for-9 from behind the three-point arc, including treys on three-consecutive possessions.
