The Basics

• FIU's offense was stymied in the evening game for a Friday split, falling to Hofstra 5-0 to complete day one of the Felsberg Invitational. The Panthers had won earlier 4-1 over St. John's
• Both the Panthers and the Pride are 1-1
• FIU left six runners on base, and collected only four hits in the contest, half as many as in their afternoon win.
• Junior starting pitcher Megan Kugelmann (Merritt Island, Florida / Cocoa Beach HS) was solid save for one inning, when a bases-clearing double was part of a five-run frame. Hofstra got seven hits off of Kugelmann in six innings. Kugelmann struck out four and walked three in her season debut.
• Four different Panthers had the four hits on offense.

 
Next up for FIU
The Panthers will face St. John's for the second time this weekend at 3:45 Saturday afternoon, then right after, against South Carolina, the only team to win both games on Friday, starting at around 6:30.
