MIAMI (March 22, 2018) – The No. 13-ranked FIU beach volleyball team will have a quick turnaround as it hits the road to take part in the Saint Leo Invitational in Saint Leo, Florida, March 23-24. The Panthers open the two-day event with a single match on Friday against the host Lions, with first serve at the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Complex coming at 4 p.m. FIU will close out the weekend with three matches on Saturday, against Eckerd (9:40 a.m.), Jacksonville (11:40 a.m.) and Florida Southern (2:40 p.m.).

The Panthers, who are coming off a 3-2 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday afternoon in Miami, comes into the weekend with an 11-5 record, and winners of their last five-straight matches, which marks the longest winning streak since taking nine-straight matches during the 2014 campaign.
The Panthers remain almost unbeatable at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions. The top spot of
Federica Frasca and
Margherita Bianchin are 15-1 at the No. 1 spot, while a trio of pairs –
Erin Byrne/
Mariana Dal Pozzo (4-1), Dal Pozzo/
Taija Thomas (9-1), and Dal Pozzo/
Mariana De Paula Silva (0-1) – have combined for a record of 13-3 at No. 5.
Saint Leo comes into Friday's match with a 1-1 record on the year.
