FIU rallied from a 3-1 deficit late to tie the score in the bottom of the eighth.
In the seventh, three straight hits by
Christian Khawam, Lorenzo Hampton and
Adan Fernandez brought the Panthers within one run. Fernandez's double scored Khawam.
In the eighth,
Juan Teixeira tripled and scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by
Derek Cartaya.
Hampton was 2 for 4. Fernandez was 2 for 3 with two RBI.
On deck, FIU travels to Ruston, Louisiana. The Panthers face the LA Tech Bulldogs in a three-game series starting Thursday at 7 p.m. EDT. The series will run from Thursday through Saturday because of Easter Sunday.
