ORLANDO, Florida (March 30, 2018) – The FIU women's tennis team (10-2) fell to No. 21 UCF, 4-1, on Friday, March 30, from the USTA National Tennis Courts in Orlando, Florida.
In doubles action,
Ulyana Grib and
Maryna Veksler at No. 14 in the latest Oracle/ITA national doubles rankings fell to UCF's duo of Ksenia Kuznetsova and Maria Martinez, 6-1.
Mina Markovic and
Sandra Bozinovic lost to UCF's pair of Monica Matias and Natalia Serrano, 6-0, giving UCF a 1-0 lead.
In singles play,
Andrea Lazaro currently ranked No. 4 in the latest Oracle/ITA national singles rankings, won against Kuznetsova 6-2, 6-1 and this match marked her 21st victory overall in singles. The panthers lost three straight singles as Markovic lost to Silvia Bordes 6-2, 6-2;
Sandra Bozinovic lost to No.122 Rebeka Stolmar 6-4, 6-2 and Caluk fell to Serrano 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
FIU will play next against Middle Tennessee on Friday, April 6. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
