RUSTON, LA – Louisiana Tech hit a pair of home runs en route to a 3-0 win over FIU on Saturday afternoon at Patterson Park in Ruston, Louisiana.
The Bulldogs (22-8, 7-2 Conference USA) took two of three games from the Panthers (13-16, 4-5 C-USA).
Hunter Wells doubled off FIU starter
Nick MacDonald (1-2) with two outs in third inning. Dalton Skelton singled home Wells for the first run of the game.
Steele Netterville and Mason Mallard each hit a solo home run to add to the LA Tech lead. Netterville connected in the fifth and Mallard hit his homer in the sixth.
MacDonald went six innings, allowed four hits, three runs, walked one and struck out six.
The Panthers collected 10 hits on the afternoon.
Derek Cartaya and
Jose Garcia each had two hits.
On deck, FIU returns home for a single midweek game against Bethune-Cookman before hitting the road again next weekend. The Panthers host the Wildcats at 6 p.m. Tuesday from Infinity Insurance Park.
