MIAMI, Florida (Apr. 15, 2018) – The FIU women's tennis team defeated Florida Atlantic, 4-0, on Sunday, April 15, at the FIU Tennis courts.
With today's victory, the Panthers closed the season with a 14-2 record and a 6-0 mark in conference matches.
In doubles,
Mina Markovic and
Sandra Bozinovic defeated FAU's Marisa Ruiz and Natalia Boltinskaya, 6-1 and
Andrea Lazaro and
Nerma Caluk won against the Owls' Ja'Cara Gillis and Kristen Thoms, 6-3, giving FIU a 1-0 lead.
In singles play,
Sandra Bozinovic won the first point and defeated Gillis, 6-2, 6-1 giving FIU a 2-0 lead. Markovic beat FAU' s Jennifer Leib 6-3, 6-0 and
Maryna Veksler clinched the match for the Panthers, topping Ruiz 6-2, 6-4.
FIU will play next at the Conference USA Championships (19-22 April) in Norfolk, Virginia. Conference USA will be hosted by Old Dominion.
