FIU Wins Series over FAU, 5-1
MIAMI – FIU (22-21, 6-6 C-USA) took game three of the Conference USA series against Florida Atlantic (21-20, 9-6 C-USA), 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at Felsberg Field. The win clinched the series against the Owls. FIU's
Shannon Saile (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) pitched in relief for the Panthers and earned her 13
th win of the season. Saile is currently tied for first among Conference USA pitchers in wins.

The Basics
- The Panthers scored four runs in the sixth inning. Julia Gilbert knocked in two runs with a base-hit up the middle to break a 1-1 tie. With FIU ahead 3-1, Natalie Orcutt hit her first homerun of the season, driving in Gilbert to give the Panthers the 5-1 lead.
- FIU got on the board in the fourth inning on a wild pitch by FAU that scored Kasandra Castle.
- Megan Kugelmann got the start for FIU against the Owls in game three and threw five innings allowing a single run on seven hits. Saile entered the game in the sixth inning and earned the win in two innings of work. Saile struck out three Owls.
- Casandra Kastle and Jessica Rivera each had two hits while Gilbert and Orcutt each had two RBI and a hit.
- Jackie Schoff came into the weekend series ranked fourth in the country in hits (55). Schoff added four more to her total and is now hitting .386 this season.
- Jessica Rivera recorded two hits in all three games vs. FAU this weekend.
UP NEXT
FIU will make a quick trip to Deland, Florida to play Stetson University on Wednesday, April 11 at 6:00 P.M. before coming back home next weekend to host conference foe, Middle Tennessee State.
