Kendahl Dunford allowed just one run in a complete-game effort and Vennessa Gallegos drove in a pair of runs to lift the Panthers (30-24, 14-8 C-USA) to a 4-1 win in game two of the doubleheader. WKU (27-25, 10-13 C-USA) took game one of the doubleheader, 1-0, spoiling another solid outing by FIU sophomore pitcher
Shannon Saile who struck out 12 in six innings.
Dunford gave up the one run in the bottom of the first inning, then settled in to toss six scoreless innings scattering six hits and striking out two. The Panthers out-hit the Hilltoppers, 9-6. Gallegos finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The Basics
- Dunford pitched six scoreless innings after allowing a run in the first inning.
- FIU used a three-run fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Jackie Schoff, Kasandra Castle and Jessica Rivera all singled in the inning. Julia Gilbert drove in Castle with two outs to tie the game. Gallegos and Natalie Orcutt both followed with RBI singles giving FIU the lead for good.
- The Panthers added an insurance run in the top of the sixth. Rivera reached on an error and later scored on another Gallegos RBI single.

The Basics
- WKU's Kelsey Aikey pitched a complete game two-hit shutout and struck out five to help the Hilltoppers clinch the final spot in the Conference USA Championship.
- Saile pitched another gem for the Panthers scattering four hits through six innings and striking out 12. It was the seventh time this season she's had 12 or more strikeouts in a game and 13th time with 10 or more strikeouts in the game.
- WKU broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning. Rebekah Engelhardt led off with a double to center. After Saile recorded the next two outs, Kelsey McGuffin flared a bloop single into left field to score the lone run of the game.
- Schoff and Tatyana Forbes each had one hit for the Panthers.
