MIAMI (August 3, 2018) – With the 2018 season on the horizon, FIUSports.com will interview select members of the FIU women's soccer team in an effort to know more about their lives on and off the pitch. Sophomore
Angel Breedlove continues our series, as the Pembroke Pines native talks about her freshman season, her competitive spirit and what freshman she's most impressed with so far.

Q: How does it feel to play close to home?
A: It's amazing playing close to home. I get to go home as often as I want, but I also get to feel free since it still is a somewhat of a long drive. It also means a lot having my family in the stands at every home game cheering me on.
Q: What was the biggest thing you learned after your freshman season?
A: Effort goes a long way. Being the best at your position doesn't matter, because if the effort isn't there no one will want to play with you.
Q: What has been your biggest focus this offseason to get better?
A: My biggest focus to get better this offseason is improving my endurance. As an outside back, making overlapping runs and tracking back to get back in my position calls for a lot of running. Having better endurance will help me perform better and longer on the field.
Q: How did your older sister help you become more competitive?
A: My dad made it a competition as to who would be the "Family Athlete", and I've always been super competitive especially when I was younger. I always worked harder than her and trained with better coaches to be better than her.
Q: Who is the most interesting freshman on the team so far?
A: International students are always interesting because they move to a whole different country at just 18 or even younger, but the international freshmen haven't come in yet. So, if I had to choose one that I met already it would be
Rayquel Berry because she runs track and plays soccer, which are two very difficult sports.
