MIAMI – FIU Women's Soccer (7-5-4, 4-3-1 CUSA) concluded the 2025 regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 1-1 draw against CUSA newcomer Missouri State.
A tightly contested first half saw Missouri State strike first in the 16th minute, as Reilly Heman found the back of the net with a left-footed finish to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.
FIU suffered a setback late in the half when goalkeeper Valery Restrepo was issued a red card in the 44th minute, leaving the Panthers down a player and without their starting backstop for the remainder of the match. FIU entered halftime trailing 1-0.
The Panthers battled back after the break, eventually leveling the score in the 64th minute when junior Montelene Dymond, the team's leading scorer, headed home her eighth goal of the season off a cross from senior Grace Morris, Morris's third assist of the season.
Neither team could find a winner down the stretch, resulting in FIU's first draw in conference play.
The Panthers recorded nine total shots and six on target, led by senior Chinatsu Kaio with three shots (two on goal) and Dymond with three shots (two on goal).
Senior goalkeeper Odaliana Gomez stepped up in a big way in her first appearance of the season, tallying a career-high five saves and allowing no goals in 45:35 minutes of action.
