MIAMI - (Sept. 16, 2018) – The FIU women's soccer team fell in it's C-USA opener on Sunday afternoon, as UTEP earned a victory following the 2-0 decision.
UTEP improves to 5-3-1 (1-0 C-USA), while FIU falls to 0-8-0 (0-1 C-USA) on the season.
Both of the Miners' two goals were notched in the first half, with the Panthers holding UTEP scoreless for the final 50 minutes of the contest.
FIU's
Sierra Moss led the Panthers offensively with the team's lone shot directed toward the Miners' goalkeeper. Freshman goalkeeper
Christina Velazquez stopped three of five shots directed her way by the UTEP attackers.
UP NEXT
FIU heads north to open the road conference slate next week at Charlotte (Sept. 20) and Marshall (Sept. 23).
