MIAMI – Joris Ahlinvi (
Bordeaux, France) earned his first career Conference USA weekly honor as he was named the C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 16, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Ahlinvi helped the Panthers improve to 2-0 in Conference USA play last week – and 2-4 overall – while recording his first collegiate career two-goal performance. He netted both of the Panthers' goals against UAB in FIU's 2-1 double-overtime win on Sept. 14. After tying the match at one-all in the 71' minute on a header, Ahlinvi bent his own corner kick in and beat UAB goalkeeper Seth Torman to end the contest with 23 seconds remaining in the second overtime. He finished the match with five shots, including three on goal. He had nine shots on the week with four coming on net.

On the year, Ahlinvi is second on the team in scoring with seven points (3g, 1a), also good enough for a share of fifth in C-USA, and sixth in points-per-game (1.17).

The Panthers return to action on Sept. 18, with the first of three road contests, beginning at No. 19 Virginia. First touch is slated for 7 p.m.
