FIU hosts Florida Atlantic and takes to the road against North Texas in the Panthers second week of conference play.
The Panthers (9-5, 2-0 Conference USA) and Owls (10-3, 1-0 C-USA) meet Friday night at 7 p.m. from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. FIU and FAU are two of five teams unbeaten in C-USA play thus far.
FIU plays at North Texas Sunday at 2 p.m. The Mean Green enter the weekend with a 5-13 overall record and a 1-1 mark in C-USA.

Last time out FIU swept UAB and Marshall to start league play with a pair of wins. FIU did not lose a set to the Blazers and Thundering Herd.
Lina Bernier fueled FIU with 39 digs last weekend en route to claiming the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week award. Bernier has tallied 16 or more digs in 12 of the Panthers' 14 matches. The junior is currently third in the conference in digs, averaging 5.06 per set.
FIU is fifth in digs in the conference averaging 14.94 per set.
The Panthers continue their good work on the defensive side. The FIU defense is currently second in the conference in opponent's hit percentage with a .166 clip. Only Rice at .154 is better in C-USA.
FIU is also second in opponent's kills with an 11.36 kills per set mark which is only second to FAU's 10.73.
The Panthers are second in C-USA in blocks with 2.28 per set. Charlotte is tops at 2.39.
Chelsea Hudson averages one block per set to pace FIU and has 48 total blocks on the season.
Margherita Bianchin sparked FIU with 25 kills and a .421 hit percentage against UAB and Marshall. Bianchin leads the Panthers with 3.47 kills per set, which is seventh in C-USA.
Bianchin also leads the Panthers with 15 service aces.
Nina Petranovic is second with nine.
Abbie Hughes is the Panthers assists leader with 8.49 per set.

FAU swept UAB last Sunday to win its conference opener. The Owls had their conference bye last Friday.
After losing its first three matches of the season, FAU has won its last 10 matches in a row.
Massiel Matos had 17 kills against UAB and was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week.
FIU leads the all-time series with FAU 30-29. The Owls and Panthers split their two meetings last season, with each team winning on the other's home floor.
About North Texas
North Texas lost its last match, 3-2, against Tulsa on Wednesday. The Mean Green split their conference-opening weekend. North Texas defeated LA Tech last Friday before losing to UTSA on Sunday.
The Mean Green are led by Valerie Valerian, who averages 3.42 kills per set.
FIU leads the all-time series with North Texas, 12-8. However, the Mean Green won the last meeting, 3-0, last season in Miami.
