FIU continued one streak and ended another Friday night in its 3-1 defeat of Florida Atlantic at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
The Panthers won their fourth straight match and wiped out the Owls 10-match winning streak. FIU (10-5, 3-0 Conference USA) stayed unbeaten in the conference while FAU (10-4, 1-1 C-USA) dropped its first league match.
After losing the first set 23-25, FIU won the next three sets 25-22, 25-15 and 25-10. The Panthers held the Owls to a .000 hit percentage in the fourth set.
FIU salted the match with a 16-5 run in the fourth set.
Margherita Bianchin led FIU with 13 kills and a match-high five service aces. Bianchin added six digs and four blocks.
Lina Bernier contributed four service aces, 10 digs and six assists.
Nina Petranovic had 11 kills and
Ronja Klinger tallied 10 kills. Petranovic hit .450 for the match.
Dorina Klinger had a match-high eight blocks.
Chelsea Hudson had nine kills and three blocks.
Abbie Hughes had a double-double with 37 assists and 10 digs.
Next up FIU plays its first C-USA road match of the season. The Panthers travel to Denton, Texas to take on North Texas Sunday afternoon. The first serve is at 2 p.m.
