Women's Soccer Falls to North Texas in Final Home Game

The Panthers were unable to stave off the Mean Green to close out the home slate

MIAMI (Oct. 27, 2019) - The FIU women's soccer team came up short in their last home match of the 2019 season, as the Panthers fell to North Texas by a score of 7-0 in Miami.

The Panthers' record now falls to 2-14 on the season and 0-9 in Conference USA, while the Mean Green improve to 12-5 with a 7-2 record in conference play.

North Texas led 5-0 after the first half, as the Mean Green saw scores from Allie Byrd and Olivia Klein. The Panthers recorded one shot attempt in the first half, coming off the foot of Rayquel Berry.

In the second half North Texas was able to add on two more scores, as FIU did its best to stop the Mean Green attack, but fell eventually to a conference opponent at FIU Soccer Stadium.

Berry and Sydney Washington led FIU with two shot attempts in the match. Christina Velazquez recorded four saves for FIU. Olivia Sandahl, Sierra Moss, and Ashley Adams all logged a full 90 minutes.

UP NEXT
The Panthers hit the road for the final match of the 2019 season when they travel to FAU on Friday, Nov. 1. Kickoff against the Owls is set for 7 p.m. ET in Boca Raton, Florida.
