MIAMI (Nov. 19, 2019) – The FIU women's basketball team dropped a tight game against Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday night, as the Panthers fell 65-60.

With the loss, FIU falls to 1-3 overall. BCU improves to 2-0 on the year. 

Four Panthers scored in double-digits, with Jiselle Thomas leading the way at 20 points for the contest. Thomas filled out the stat sheet with six rebounds, four steals, two assists and a block as well on Tuesday night. 

Chelsea Guimaraes followed up Thomas with 13, while Diene Diane and Giulia Bongiorno scored 10 apiece. BCU's Amaya Scott picked up a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds during Tuesday's contest.

FIU had a strong start to the game, after holding BCU to just one made field goal for the first five minutes of play as the Panthers took a 13-9 advantage into the second quarter. However, BCU would outscore the Panthers 22-8 in the next period to take a 31-21 lead into the locker room. 

The Panthers and Wildcats played a tight third quarter, with BCU outscoring FIU by only two points, but increased its lead to 46-34 entering the final period. The Panthers rallied for a 12-2 run midway through the fourth quarter as FIU cut the deficit to just 51-48, but BCU controlled the final four minutes of the game to earn a 65-60 victory.
