MIAMI (Nov. 5, 2019) – The FIU women's basketball team fell 100-54 to Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday, as the Panthers opened the 2019-20 season.

FIU was led by Chelsea Guimaraes, who posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds on the night. FGCU's Nasrin Ulel led the Eagles with 18 points.

FGCU jumped out to a 20-8 lead in the first quarter and went on to extend their lead to 61-10 going into the locker room after a 41-point second quarter. FIU came out of the locker room strong, outscoring the Eagles 23-17 during the third quarter to trim the FGCU lead. The Panthers fought hard in the final period to outscore FGCU 14-8, however, it was not enough as FIU fell 100-54 to the Eagles.
