JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Dec. 15, 2019) –The FIU women's basketball team dropped a 77-52 contest against Jacksonville on the road Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers fall to 2-6 on the season, while Jacksonville improves to 5-5.
FIU was led by
Fujika Nimmo, who posted 13 points on the afternoon.
Jiselle Thomas also scored in double-figures, adding 12 points on the day. JU's Shakayla Nevitt led her team with 25 points.
Jacksonville was up early, as the Dolphins outscored FIU 25-19 to close out the first quarter. JU extended its lead heading into the locker room with a 44-26 advantage at the break. The Panthers and Dolphins played a tight third quarter, with JU holding a slim 17-15 advantage but the deficit stood at 61-41 entering the fourth quarter. The Dolphins held on in the final period, as JU earned a 77-52 victory at home.

FIU will head back to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center this week as the Panthers host the annual FIU Holiday Hoops Showdown. The Panthers welcome Grambling State, Austin Peay and Binghamton to Miami on Thursday, Dec. 19 and Friday, Dec. 20.
