MIAMI (Feb. 16) - FIU dropped Saturday night's matchup with Stony Brook by a score of 7-6 after a heart breaking ninth inning at the FIU Baseball Stadium.
The Panthers' record falls to 0-2 on the young season, while Stony Brook improves to 2-0.
Stony Brook's Brandon Bonanno earned the win after pitching three and a third scorless innings. FIU's
Will Saxton took the loss after allowing three runs in the ninth.
Michael Wilson led the way for Stony Brook, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a home run. FIU sophomore
Seth Cannady produced a solid night at the plate, going 4-for-5 while earning two RBIs.
The Panthers entered the top of the ninth with a 6-4 lead over the Seawolves and an opportunity to close out the game, but sophomore pitcher
Will Saxton allowed a three-run home run to Stony Brook's Michael Wilson on a 2-2 count with only one out remaining in the inning.
Connor Clark took the mound in the bottom of the ninth with a 7-6 lead and retired all three batters to earn the save for the Seawolves.

The Panthers will look to earn their first win of the season in the final matchup of a three-game series against Stony Brook Sunday afternoon at 12pm.
