DENTON, Texas (Feb. 16, 2019) – The FIU women's basketball team closed out a two-game road trip falling 75-50 to North Texas on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 4-22 overall and 1-12 in league play. North Texas improves to 14-11 and 7-6 in C-USA action.
FIU was led by
Ieva Spigule who posted her first double-double of the season, earning 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds for FIU on the afternoon. Junior
Chelsea Guimaraes scored 15 points for the Panthers, marking her 11th double-figure game of the season. North Texas' Terriell Bradley led the Mean Green with 19 points aiding in the North Texas victory.
North Texas took the lead in the first quarter with a 16-11 advantage before posting 25 points during the second period to push their lead to 41-21 going into the half. Coming out of the locker room, the Mean Green scored 15 points during the third quarter and continued to hold a 56-28 advantage. Despite the Panthers outscoring North Texas 22-19 in the fourth, it was not enough as the Mean Green took a 75-50 win.
