MIAMI (March 28, 2019) – The No. 7-ranked FIU beach volleyball team gets back on the sand this weekend as the Panthers host the FIU Surf 'N' Turf Invitational, March 29-30, at Lummus Beach Park on South Beach.

The event runs all day on Friday and Saturday and is free to the public, it is widely considered as the premier collegiate beach volleyball tournament on the East Coast, and one of the top two in the nation. All nine teams in the Surf 'N' Turf are either nationally ranked or getting votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and DiG Magazine Top 20 polls. Play begins each day at 8 a.m.

The Panthers, 8-5 on the year and 2-0 in Coastal Collegiate Sports Association duals, begin play in the Surf 'N' Turf on Friday at 10 a.m. when they face No. 10 Stetson (16-4) and then No. 16 Grand Canyon (13-3) at 2 p.m. FIU will close out day one against No. 4 LSU (13-4) at 4 p.m. On Saturday, the Panthers will continue play at 9 a.m. against Tulane (14-8), before facing No. 3 Florida State (14-4) and then closing out the event against No. 1 ranked – and defending NCAA Champion – UCLA (17-0) at 4 p.m.

Following this weekend, the Panthers will head to Tallahassee to take part in the FSU Invitational, April 4-5. During the opening day, FIU will take on No. 19 Georgia State at 9 a.m. and Florida State at 1:30 p.m. The Panthers will close out the weekend against No. 15 Florida Atlantic at 9:30 a.m.
