Panthers Head to Marshall for Regular-Season Finale

Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on Thursday


MIAMI (March 6, 2019) – The FIU women's basketball team will head to Huntington, West Virginia on Thursday as the Panthers play the final game of the 2018-19 regular season at 6 p.m. ET against Marshall.

LAST TIME AGAINST MARSHALL
FIU fell 86-58 last time against Marshall on Jan. 19, 2019 in Miami. FIU was led by Ce'Nara Skanes who scored 18 points for the Panthers. Shayna Gore posted 26 points in the Herd victory.

SCOUTING THE HERD
The Herd is 15-13 overall and 9-6 in C-USA play with its last win coming against Middle Tennessee (59-53). Marshall has been led by Shayna Gore who is averaging 19.7 points per game.

C-USA HONORS
Ce'Nara Skanes was named C-USA Freshman of the Week on Monday after her 20-point, 13-rebound performance against Charlotte. The C-USA Freshman of the Week award was Skanes' first of the season. Skanes earned the C-USA Honor Roll accolade last week, following a 15-point, 16-rebound performance to lead FIU past Florida Atlantic 56-49. 

ROARY MCSCOARY
FIU scored a season-high 82 points at home on Jan.17,2019. The last time the Panthers scored more than 82 points was against FAU on Feb. 17, 2018 when they beat the Owls 86-65.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
FIU has had two players post double-doubles this season, with Ce'Nara Skanes owning eight and Chelsea Guimaraes earning one.

SKANES CONTROLLING THE GLASS
Freshman Ce'Nara Skanes has controlled the glass this season, ranking 3rd in the conference for rebounds as she is averaging 7.8 per contest. Among C-USA freshmen, Skanes is averaging more rebounds per game than any other freshman.

HERE WE GO, 2018-19
FIU earned an 8-21 record last season, but it was much improved from 2016-17's mark of 5-24. The Panthers also improved their C-USA mark from 3-15 in 2016-17 to 5-11 in 2017-18.

WHAT COMES BACK
The Panthers will welcome back three players who logged minutes last season, with TaMiracle TaylorCabria Lee and Shante Walker returning for the 2018-19 season.

NEWCOMERS
FIU will welcome seven newcomers to the roster this season, with four juniors and three freshmen making up the seven total.

MRS. WORLDWIDE
FIU sports four international players on this season's roster, with three players from Europe and one from north of the border.

TEMPORADA TRES
The Panthers will officially enter season three under the direction of head coach Tiara Malcom.

GOING UP
Under the guidance of Tiara Malcom, FIU has improved its win total each season. The eight victories last season were also the most by any Panther basketball squad since the 2013-14 season.
