MIAMI (March 8, 2019) – Coming off their fifth-consecutive conference title, the diving team will travel to Auburn, Alabama to compete at the 2019 NCAA Diving Zones competition March 11-13.
The meet will take place at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center on the Auburn University campus. The five Panthers competing are junior
Brooke Bouchard, freshman
Kaitlyn Fredericks, sophomore
Rachel Foord, freshman
Maha Gouda and junior
Brittany Haskell.
FIU dominated diving at the C-USA championship. Every Panther appeared on the podium, at least once throughout the week sweeping first through third place on all three events.
Gouda – who was named C-USA diver of the meet – is coming off her best performance all year. The rookie captured gold in all three diving events at the conference championship last week.
Foord finished third from the 1-meter, second from the 3-meter and third from the Platform at the conference championship. Fredericks took second from the Platform, Bouchard took second from the 1-meter and Haskell finished third from the 3-meter.
Action at the Zone B Diving competition will begin Monday, March 11. Preliminary competition is slated for 3:15 p.m. for the Women's 3-meter event and finals will take place 6 p.m.
The NCAA will release the list of 41 divers selected to compete at the National Championships on Sunday March 17, once all five Zone meets have concluded. The top nine finishers on 1-meter, eight on 3-meter and six on platform will automatically advance to NCAAs in Austin, Texas from March 20-23.
