NORFOLK, Virginia (April 21, 2019) – The FIU baseball team fell on Sunday afternoon in a 7-2 decision to Old Dominion, as the Panthers dropped their first series of the month of April.
The Panthers drop to 17-22 and 7-11 in Conference USA play. Old Dominion moves to 24-15 overall and 7-11 on the year.

Franco Aleman suffered the loss. The freshman pitched 5.2 innings of two-run ball with four strikeouts. Monarchs' starter Ryne Moore was given the victory after pitching six innings.
Austin Shenton extended his hitting streak to 12 games in the fifth inning with a single to center as part of his two-hit day. The third baseman also drove in both FIU runs to put his
RBI total at 40.

Adan Fernandez,
Juan Teixeira,
Kaeber Rog and
Jarrett Ford each collected a base knock on Sunday.
ODU opened the scoring with a RBI double in the home half of the first before Shenton walked with the bases loaded to drive in Cartaya and tie the game at one all.
The Monarchs scored one in the sixth and five in the seventh to take a 7-1 lead.
Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. walked to start the ninth and later scored on a Shenton double down the right field line to make it a 7-2 game.
UP NEXT
FIU returns to the 305 on Wednesday to take on Miami in Coral Gables before opening the longest homestand of the season with a three-game set with Charlotte.
