DALLAS (May 6, 2019) – Following his career outing against Bethune-Cookman on May 1, Christian Santana has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
 
The big righty struck out a career-high 10 Wildcats over eight scoreless innings, while only allowing six hits. At one point in the middle innings, the sophomore sat down 15-straight opposing batters.
 
Santana, a Hialeah, Florida native, is 2-2 on the season with a 5.40 ERA and 38 Ks in 43.1 innings of work. He joins Logan Allen as the only two Panthers to have conference honors bestowed upon them this season.

The Panthers hit the road this week, as FIU travels to Texas Tech on Tuesday, May 7 for a doubleheader before making a weekend trip to Middle Tennessee for a three-game set beginning on Friday, May 10 at 6 p.m. ET.
