MIAMI – The College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) announced its 2025 Baseball Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, with two Panthers recognized for their excellence on and off the field. Among the honorees were redshirt senior
Austin Dearing and redshirt freshman
Andrew Ildefonso.
Dearing, a native of Hurricane, W. Va., boasts a 3.75 GPA as a Recreation and Sports Management major.
The veteran outfielder wrapped up a strong 2025 campaign, appearing in 52 games and batting .286 with 54 hits. He launched eight home runs, ranked third on the team with 38 RBIs, and was second in doubles with 12. Dearing excelled in Conference USA play, hitting .352 over 25 games. He recorded 18 multi-hit games, highlighted by a two-homer performance against Merrimack on March 1 and a three-hit, three-RBI showing at Miami on April 2. He closed the regular season on a high note, collecting six hits, six RBIs, and two home runs in the weekend series at Sam Houston.
Ildefonso, a Finance major with a 3.61 GPA, emerged as FIU's primary designated hitter and was named to the CUSA All-Freshman Team. He played in 50 games, batting .304 with 11 doubles and 37 RBIs. Ildefonso turned in a breakout performance at Sam Houston on May 15, notching his first career three-hit game. Over the season, he tallied 12 two-hit games and delivered a pair of four-RBI outings—April 13 vs. New Mexico State and April 22 at FGCU.
