MIAMI (June 12, 2019) – Next up in our Q&A series with FIU football is
Daniel Jackson. The Panther is coming off another great season at FIU, after playing in all 13 games this season.
A native of Apex, North Carolina, Jackson recorded seven tackles on the season as a sophomore, including five solo tackles and two unassisted. His contributions in the secondary helped FIU rank fourth overall in Conference USA for passing defense and sixth in the league for pass defense efficiency. Jackson was an important component on an FIU defense that recorded 17 total interceptions, which ranked second in Conference USA and 11th overall in the nation. The linebacker is now preparing for his junior season at FIU, as he took time to sit down with FIUSports.com for a little back-and-forth Q&A.
Q: How has life been in Miami?
A: "I like living in Miami, it's a really diverse area and there's a lot of cool stuff to do."
Q: What's it like playing for Coach Davis?
A: "Playing for Coach Davis is awesome. He really cares about us players and sets us up to be successful not only on the field but off the field as well."
Q: What was your favorite moment from last season?
A: "My favorite moment last season was beating Toledo in the Bahamas Bowl."
Q: Describe your fashion style.
A: "My fashion style is really chill right now. I have expensive taste so I'm going to be needing a real paying job before I can really dress how I want, haha."
Q: Favorite food establishment in Miami?
A: My favorite food establishment in Miami is GreenStreet Café."
Q: What would your rap name be?
A: My rap name would probably be Creek Boy 919 because of high school and my home area code."
Q: What small things do you need to do this offseason for the team to be better?
A: "I want to be in the best shape of my life, so I can give this team everything I have in the tank. Also, to hold myself accountable so that we can set a standard of greatness for this upcoming season and all the seasons to come."
Q: What's your favorite meme?
A: My favorite meme would be he one of Homer Simpson fading back into the bush."
