MIAMI (Aug. 13, 2019) - Day one of practice is in the books for the FIU women's volleyball team as the Panthers prepare for another season of volleyball.
"Today we just really wanted to see what we had," head coach
Rita Buck-Crockett said. "There is a lot of power and a lot of good energy and we are excited about the team that we have."
FIU welcomes a new year after coming off of a successful 2018 season with 19 wins and a first ever C-USA finals run to cap a stellar season.
"I think all of these guys, especially me, are really proud to have brought something that has never happened at FIU," Buck-Crockett said about last season's success. "With that being said, we brought attention, we brought respect back. This team is very proud of that and I am very proud of my girls for doing that. The athletes coming in are very proud to be a part of this program knowing that they are going to build on all that has happened. In all everyone is excited to just get going."
The Blue & Gold will open the 2019 season on the road on Aug. 30 at Indiana, before returning home on Sept. 5-6 to host Panther Fest.
