BOCA RATON (Sept. 27, 2019) - Despite taking the opening set on Friday night, the FIU volleyball team couldn't hold off Florida Atlantic on the road as the Panthers fell to the Owls to open conference play.
With the loss, FIU falls to 7-5 overall and 0-1 in C-USA action. FAU improves to 7-5 on the year and 1-0 in league play. The final score stood at 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 22-25.
Gina Lipscomb led the way for FIU, after collecting 15 kills on the night and 11 digs to earn a double-double.
Abbie Hughes tallied another double-double on the year after earning 42 assists and 12 digs against FAU.Â

FIU travels to Marshall on Sunday, as the Panthers and Herd begin action at 1 p.m. ET to close out the weekend.Â
